Our unique education program has sent US veterinarians to Romania to train local veterinarians in becoming excellent surgeons, using anesthesia and analgesia. The veterinarians have also spayed and neutered hundreds of dogs during their training camps in Romania. We have trained vets in Arad, Galati, Bucharest, Jilava, Sibiu, Cluj/Napoca, Buzau, Braila, Oradea. These newly trained vets have also been given surgical equipment to use for their surgeries.
Romania Animal Rescue, Inc. has secured donations and funded supplies for animals in shelters, on the streets, and at veterinary clinics. Frontline®, HeartGard®, Previcox®, Rabissun®, surgical instruments, dog food, sterile gauze, and much more have been sent to Romania thanks to our generous donors.
RAR has funded the spay/neuter of over 4500 animals in Romania to date. We have also successfully treated animals for accidents, dog bites, car injuries, mange, fleas, ticks, chewing lice, and more.
We promote the welfare of animals in Romania by being an inclusive organization, open to coordinating events and goals with other Romanian charities. We regularly include emails from other Romanian charities in our newsletters so that readers can help others in need.
RAR has fostered out 5 dogs and adopted out 9 to good homes in Romania in October, 2008. These new friendships will bring many years of joy to both dogs and humans.
We will be offering free spay/neuter, vaccinations, and deparatizations for shelter dogs in Galati (250 from the city shelter, and 500 from a private shelter) in October, via a vet in Galati who will work with the shelter animals. Most vets will not treat the shelter animals, as they are very dirty and stink. The cost for this program will be as we can afford to pay.
We also pay for the food for the city shelter in Galati, Romania, which has 250 dogs. The city does not feed them, so we feel as tho we are the only hope they have for food. We just got a donation from Nylabone for chewies for these dogs as well! The cost of the food per month is $300.
RAR also has a representative in Bucharest, Romania: Livia Brenner. Liv is setting up adoption and foster care programs. She is also involved with the media to start an "Animal Cops" program. Liv is very good and very motivated. She will be covering the costs of this program personally. |
