Elizabeth got a second chance! Thanks to great people and great work, Elizabeth was not euthanized last month, as we had thought. Elizabeth, the partially paralyzed dog who had given birth to dead puppies, was spared by our friend in Braila.
Dr. Aurelian performed a flank spay on her. She is lovely, but her legs and knees have raw sores on them. |

AND NOW THE BIG NEWS

Elizabeth was all set to go to Costa Del Sol in Gibraltar, Spain! Since all flights were grounded in Europe, she was grounded in Zurich, Switzerland. Her new foster mama, Hayley, is offering lots of TLC to Elizabeth. Thank you Kerry Pember of Disabled Dog Rescue in the UK for all your work to find a place for Elizabeth. Elizabeth finally made it to Gibraltar. Thank you Nan Sea Love for getting Elizabeth's story out on Facebook. Thank you Elizabeth Sundstrom for donating for Elizabeth and never losing hope. Bless all of you for your care and concern for Elizabeth! Read the full amazing story of Elizabeth's rescue on the Best Friends website. |

Dr. Olson arrived in Romania to graciously volunteer for the Spayathons on April 12 - May 3. On the first day 80 animals were sterilized, 100 the next, and a steady stream of procedures the following days. 1352 animals were spayed/neutered in Bucharest and Tecuci! Four vets have been trained as well so that the program can continue to help the animals.
Dr. Aurelian will be going to Galati and Braila at the end of May to spay/neuter dogs for the Help Labus shelter in Galati and some street dogs from Braila. Well done everyone! I am so proud of the work our vets and volunteers did. Thank you GIA in Bucharest and Association Tomita in Tecuci. You guys were stupendous! Thank you Mary and Bill, and thank you Rory. Thank you Mary and Bill for the donation of Advantix, and Keith for the donation of HeartGard. Â Nancy will be in Romania on April 10 - May 6 helping with the Spayathons in Bucharest, Tecuci, and Help Labus shelter. She will travel to pick up Elizabeth next week and get her spayed and vaccinated, and get her papers in order for her trip. She has been promoting these Spayathons on Romanian television. RAR will continue in Bucharest until Sunday, then head to Tecuci for the next Spayathon. We have a little dog in tow with us, Harry. He was brought to the Bucharest Spayathon, no teeth, eye infections, and covered with lice. He is our little mascot, weighing about 8 pounds. Dr. Olson will adopt him!
