This is Cara, the blind elderly doberman that had been abandoned in the streets of Sibiu. RAR found a home for her in Victoria, BC, where she is now enjoying her first Christmas with a loving family! |

Thank you all for being a part of the Romania Animal Rescue's mission to establish animal welfare in the country of Romania in 2010. Wow - this has been an amazing year full of accomplishments! Over 3000 spays/neuters - now that's worth celebrating!!! We never thought we could achieve such a remarkable accomplishment in just one year - but it is all thanks to you! So many dogs found new homes; handicapped dogs, a blind dog, abandoned puppies, all shapes and sizes. Homes and hearts were opened up to the most needy, and I bless you all for this! Thanks to your support, RAR was able to help in more shelters and towns where the need for spay/neuter for humane animal population control was just a dream in the past. This is all accomplished thanks to YOU and only YOU. Romania Animal Rescue is beginning our in-school children's animal welfare educational program in Iasi, Romania's second largest city, this year, thanks to support and help from FPCC in Romania, SOS Dogs, and the Mayhew Animal Home International, London, Chrissy Phillips of Romania Animal Aid, and Rob Cole of ShoreShot! Web Design . Together, we are changing the way the animals are treated in Romania - I can never thank you enough for helping these animals gain value and respect. May your New Year be full of health and happiness! Â Love
Nancy Janes, President, CEO and Founder Romania Animal Rescue, Inc. Dear Friends, 2010 RAR changed the life and fate of more animals than we could have imagined at the beginning of this year. Thanks to you we went over the 9000 spay and neuter surgeries and now we are aiming for the 10,000 figure. We are determined to continue our good work and reach places where animals have never gotten any veterinary treatment, and people are naive about their pet's needs and freedoms. I hope you will stand by us and by our work and continue to support us deliver a new beginning for dogs and cats in need. God bless you and your families,
Dr. Aurelian Stefan, D.V.M
Recently two men from a Roma (gypsy) family appeared at the veterinary clinic of Dr. Aurelian Stefan. They said their cat was limping and asked if he could help. Not only did Dr. A give the cat treatment for its leg injury at no charge, but the men also made an appointment to spay the cat. The surgery will be paid for by RAR. We are always especially happy when men show humanity toward animals in Romania. It is typically the women who bring in animals. This is the second incident in recent days of men showing concern for animals; the other was a railroad worker who is caring for dogs. It gives us so much hope for a future in Romania where every dog and cat knows what it's like to feel safe and loved.
This woman brought her puppy 80 kilometers (50 miles) to be vaccinated at Dr. A's clinic. Shortly before Christmas she traveled the distance again to get her puppy's booster shot. She will be returning with the mother dog to get her spayed. Stories like this remind us that there are many Romanians from all walks of life who care for animals. RAR is working hard to make sure that every Romanian has a competent small animal vet nearby, and that spay and neuter of pets is the norm. Happy Holidays to an animal lover and her dogs!
Hi! Stuart here. Remember me? Two months ago I was barely alive. But now my life on the streets is so far behind me I can scarcely remember it. Now my days are all about playing, getting belly rubs, and giving kisses. Thanks to RAR donors, I can go to my new home. I'll be spending the holidays in Romania, but I've already bought my plane ticket, and in a few weeks I'll be meeting my new mom and dad and brothers and sisters. They tell me I'll get a new bed, lots of toys, and treats too. But most of all, I want to meet my new family. And give them lots of kisses! I never dared to hope for a home of my own. Many thank you kisses to all the humans who made it possible. This is a truly happy new year!
Special greetings and thank you from Elizabeth (Lizzie), Stuart, Bina, Fiona, Cara, Lucille, Chance, and all the many puppies and dogs that RAR and our friends Disabled Dog Rescue, Human Animal Rescue, RARF, and Dr. Aurelian have been able to find loving homes for, thanks to your support! Thank you to Pamela Anderson for endorsing our hard work in Romania for the animals. Thank you for all your help: Dr. Aurelian Stefan, Dr. Petrisor Stefan, and Dr. Jeanne Olson. Happy Holidays and the Best New Year ever, from Romania Animal Rescue! Nancy Janes, |
