Animals Saved
It has been a while since I last wrote, the continuous problems often overwhelm us. One of the acute problems, sterilization for more animals. I thank Mrs. Nancy Janes and RAR for their help and support without which I do not know how I solved this problem. Thank you both for sterilizing cats in the winter, and for sterilizing dogs now!

RAR Seeking Help To Rehome 30 Pups in Ploiesti
Nancy Janes of Romania Animal Rescue (RAR) is looking for help to save 30 dogs and puppies and three cats that were abandoned in Ploiesti, Romania. They were abandoned after the death of their owner and some of the puppies are as young as 11 days.
Nancy reports, "The nephew of the deceased owner inherited the house and wants the animals out now. The living conditions of these animals have become truly appalling: There has been little for the dogs to eat, they have no bedding space, and the floors are unsanitary with urine and feces."
People in Romania are coming to the rescue including members of Romania Animal Aid and Human Animal Rights. Also Dr. Stefan, who works closely with RAR, is on his way with a mobile caravan to provide veterinary care. However, RAR needs to raise funds to help pay for the medical care and for transportation if new homes can be found. RAR has already donated funds to provide food for the animals and a local member is currently attending to them.

Street Dog Slaughter (culling)
(Many Middle East, Eastern Europe & Asian countries) countries with poor animal control periodically sweep cities of dogs and dispose of them in horrible ways, like in garbage trucks or beating to death. Many of these governments have been advised that there are better ways of dealing with street dog populations, but choose to ignore the facts. It has been amply demonstrated in hundreds of cities around the world that a good spayeuterelease program is not only humane but the only effective method of controlling the dog numbers. Many local SPCA's and welfare organizations are trying to convince their local city and country councils of this, but some officials are corrupt and they award the contracts to friends and relatives. As usual, money is involved in this form of cruelty like all others. Other officials are simply too closed-minded to accept new and humane methods of animal control.

Help the RAR Send Stuart Home for the Holidays
A few weeks ago I reported on a sad little dog name Stuart (RAR working on adoption projects in Romania). Today I received an update on little Stuart from Romania Animal Rescue CEO Nancy Janes and the news makes a happy Christmas story. Stuart was one of several dogs RAR was trying to shelter in Timisoara, Romania. All of these dogs were found roaming around the railroad tracks, however, Stuart was the worst case. Mange had made him lose all his fur, he was infested with fleas and grossly under weight. However, something about his hopeful, trusting eyes made the shelter caregivers and the local vet want to help him.

RAR Working on Adoption Projects in Romania
Nancy Janes of Romania Animal Rescue is currently working to find a home for a special stray from Romania. In her own words is this story: "A railroad worker in Timisoara, Romania, was desperate to help the starving dogs at the railroad tracks. With the help of RAR member donations, we were able to support this Romanian animal lover in helping the dogs. The dogs that could be caught were given vet care, and the man now has food to get the dogs through the winter and beyond. "Stuart, though, would not have made it through the winter. He had such bad mange that his coat had been reduced to 45 hairs. Infested with fleas and severely undernourished at only 15 pounds, Stuart nevertheless remains a trusting soul, with hopeful eyes."
