A "woman" broke this young dog's back bone while he was asleep. The only explanation for her actions is a madness atack; she dashed upon him with a broom wooden handle, breaking his back bone with 4–5 strong blows.

The wheelchair arrived. Billy ran all day long with his new wheelchair! First he wore out Cristina, then he got her mother tired, but for Billy no problem.

Coca was operated and spayed! Her owner is a pensioneer, her son has a job. They could not afford the treatment to remove Coca's tumor.

A pregnant street dog was spayed by Ms. Craciun. The dog is recovering from the procedure.

Her name was given by Ms. Craciun on spot, and describes the dog's features. One rear leg was broken, and swollen, and was hanging. The dog underwent surgery, thanks to funding from RAR.

Patrocle stood a couple of days in a ditch, with the right front leg broken, and the soft tissue at sight. It's likely that the owner abandoned the dog, seeing that the bad condition was calling for trips to the vet and medical intervention and costs.

Adopting Romanian dogs through Germany is working successfully. Sonja has been fostering dogs as they get adopted. Her house is a little bit more quiet because six more puppies have now found nice homes. Bozo and Penny found a nice family. On Monday, March 30, seven more have been adopted by a very lovely family.

His name is Rocco, and he is 4 years old. He was found and rescued in an supermarket parking area in Bucharest. One of his legs was pulled out of his hip and the other one leg was broken in many parts, shot by 3 small shots and very infected. In other words, a molested dog. With ingenuity of a vet and doctor, he is on the road to recovery.

On March 14 and 15, Romania Animal Rescue and Laura Pontini from Italy sponsored a Popesti, about 35 miles north of Bucharest. There was an unexpectedly great turnout for the event. The things that were possible because of the generosity of the donors, the stretcher, the kurunda dog bed, the spay/neuter, it is all because of wonderful and incredible people who have it in their hearts to help these animals that they have never met.

Romania Animal Rescue Foundation sent 35 puppies to Germany! These are just a few of them. Please help fund the transport of these and many more animals.

On February 21, Livia Brenner brought nine puppies from Romania to Sonja in Germany for adoption. Dr. Aurelian spayed/neutered and vaccinated all of them, providing health certificates for travel. What's better than having Dr. Aurelian treat these animals? Having two of them! They are brothers!

RAR arranged and funded Spay Day 2009 (an HSUS project) for a group, Phoenix, in Giurgiu. We had media attention, and were able to spay/neuter 105 animals. Dr. Aurelian performed more spay/neuter for Spay Day in other areas of Romania. We were able to fund this event with a grant from the Alice Morgan Wright-Edith J. Goode Trust.

Beginning December 2008, this dog had multiple fractures in her rear legs. Valentines Day 2009, she can walk on all four legs. Anyway, she was lucky. Many thanks to RAR donors for supporting us!

100 doghouses have been built with generous donations from Romania Animal Rescue supporters. The builders of these doghouses have placed them near packs of street dogs so they may be used to shelter them from the cold Romanian winter.

This dog was born about 2 months ago. She has been deparasited and vaccinated, but for the time-being is rather underweight.

This little girl is very loving, and about 3-4 months old. She will be spayed in another month and a half.

Eliza is a german shepherd mix about 8 months old. She has been vaccinated, deparasited, and spayed. She loves to be pet by those she knows, but timid towards strangers.

This dog is a big 5-month-old german shepherd mix. She is very loving, loves getting pet, follows you around like a shadow.

Licuta is about 6 months old, deparasited, vaccinated, and spayed. She is very shy, but well-behaved.
Bursuc is a Labrador mix, with black coloring and a white patch on the chest. She is very timid and withdrawn, but she is playful with brothers and sisters.

Romania Animal Rescue finds the "Lords of the Street". The last ones are of the puppy Nancy found on the street and Dr. Aurelian spayed, vaccinated, and ear-tagged. She was adopted the next day!

Daniela found puppies with their mother and hid them from dogcatchers. Geo from Galati picked them up and took them to Giurgiu, where Livia had a family to foster care for them.

Here are the photos of the puppies when they were rescued from the streets a couple of weeks ago. Last week, the puppies left for Germany.

Aristica's paw was run over by a car. Now three–legged, these photos show Aristica before surgery and after amputation. This dog survived both the leg trauma and distemper. Aristica is certainly a strong character! The T–shirt prevents the dog from licking the leg and remove stitches.

The dog catchers were trying to catch mom to put her in the dog pound. Her puppies would have starved to death if they hadn't hidden from them. Soon, they will be sterilized by RAR.

Sunshine’s mother was poisoned in Vidin market this summer. To make matters worse, Sunshine was run over by a car, and left with a fractured pelvis and both tibias.

After six weeks her cast has come off, and Sunshine can walk again. Now she can’t stop thanking the people who have cared for her.

Sometimes, we just have to rescue a pup or dog who will never make it in Romania. "SUNSHINE" is one of those puppies.

These puppies are from the cemetery in Braila. Cristina bought and brought all the dog food. The three black puppies were brought to America, as they had been dumped much too young, with little chance for survival.

Dear Nancy,
I was on my way to work when I heard the cry of a kitten. I stopped for a second but couldn’t hear it anymore. I returned to that place later and heard the cat’s cry again. This time I figured out where it was: The sewer linking to the nearby buildings. I removed the sewer cover and saw something black, small and moving. It was a kitten, scared.

This puppy, Zena, was rescued from the streets of Romania. She now lives a carefree life with her guardians.

Romania Animal Rescue friend and advocate, Geo, contacted RAR about a donkey that appeared one day at a shelter in Galati, Romania. The owner of the shelter, Mr. Cenac, did not have the means to keep the donkey, and is receiving threats from neighbors who want to kill the animal to sell as meat. The donkey had parasites, wounds in his side and nose, and damaged feet including chipped hooves. RAR funded the veterinary treatment for the donkey while Geo contacted other animal support groups who may have the space to care for him. We will keep you posted to the treatment of this donkey as the story unfolds.
